Jesus: prophet, and more

You honor Him. We worship Him. Here’s why.

In short. Catholics share the Muslim reverence for Jesus as Messiah and prophet.1,2 They go further: Jesus is true God and true man, the eternal Son who became man without ceasing to be God.3,4

Key points

  • “Christ” is the Greek form of Messiah, “anointed.”2
  • Jesus is true God and true man.3
  • Christians worship him as the Father’s eternal Son.5

Try this, this week

  1. Read Mark 2:1-12. Ask yourself why the scholars present were shocked.
  2. Compare what you know of ʿIsa with the Jesus of one Gospel chapter.

“The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

John 1:14, World English Bible

Common questions

Do Christians think Jesus is part God and part man?

Video answer: Bishop Robert Barron, stoneandincense.com/en/questions/do-christians-think-jesus-is-part-god-and-part-man/

No. The Church teaches He is not part God and part man, nor a mixture of the two, but truly God and truly man.3

Remember: You honor him. Christians worship him.
