Why this site exists.

Stone & Incense is a step-by-step guide to Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church, for anyone, anywhere.

What this site is, and is not

  • For everyone. People of every country and background, with or without faith. More languages are being prepared.
  • Faithful. Every teaching is cited to the Catechism, Scripture, or official Church documents. See Sources & method.
  • Not official. This is a lay project. It does not speak for the Church, and it has not been reviewed by a bishop. Your parish priest is always the best next step.

Who makes this

Stone & Incense is a free resource made out of love by Bill Dayton, a Catholic layman. You can reach him at [email protected].

How this site is written and checked

Every teaching sentence is checked against the Catechism, Scripture or an official Church document before it is published, and corrections are logged in public on the corrections page.

The art

The paintings on this site are public-domain works by historical artists; a few places use licensed photographs. Each is credited where it appears and on the photo credits page. No stock photos and no modern imitations.
