Home / Privacy
Privacy, plainly.
We don’t collect your personal information. Here is exactly what happens when you use this site.
- No accounts, no cookies, no trackers. We don’t use advertising or social-media scripts.
- No analytics. If we add visitor statistics later, they will be anonymous and aggregate (for example Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies), and this page will say so first.
- Your calendar choice (if you pick a national calendar) is saved only in your own browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.
- Pick up where you left off. When you read a journey step, its name and address are saved in your own browser’s local storage, so the home page and the journey page can offer a small link back to it. It’s stored only on your device, never sent to us, and there are no accounts. Press × on the link to hide it, or clear your browser data to remove it.
- Search runs entirely in your browser. Your search words are not sent to us.
- The report form doesn’t store anything. It opens your own email app with a message to [email protected], and nothing is sent until you press send there.
- Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against attacks.
- Fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties, except for the OpenStreetMap requests described below.
- Parish finder. When you type a town or address and search, those words (and your IP address, as with any web request) go straight from your browser to OpenStreetMap’s free Nominatim search service, which returns the churches it knows about. Nothing passes through us. OpenStreetMap’s privacy policy applies to those requests: osmfoundation.org.
- Journey map. The map loads its map pictures (tiles) from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers, which see your IP address and the area you’re viewing. The page also has a text version that loads nothing from them.
- Videos. Lessons show a video card that loads nothing from YouTube until you press play. When you press play, the video loads from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube’s own privacy policy then applies to that video. Each card also offers a plain link to watch on YouTube instead.
- Printable PDFs are plain files served from this site.
- Mailing list. There isn’t one yet, and no signup form is shown anywhere on the site. If we start one, it will ask only for your email address, use double opt-in, have a one-click unsubscribe on every email, never sell or share your address, and this page will name the email provider first.
- Links to other sites (vatican.va, MassTimes.org, Universalis, Vatican News, parish giving pages) are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.
Questions about privacy? Email [email protected] or use the report page, and we’ll answer.
