One God, not three
The Church confesses one God, not three: one God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. CCC 253 Confessing Jesus as Lord isn’t contrary to belief in the One God. CCC 202
Jesus: prophet, and more
Catholics share the Muslim reverence for Jesus as Messiah and prophet. Nostra Aetate 3 CCC 436 They go further: Jesus is true God and true man, the eternal Son who became man without ceasing to be God. CCC 464 CCC 469
The cross and the empty tomb
The Church proclaims Christ’s cross and Resurrection as the center of the Good News. CCC 571 His death was part of God’s saving plan, and His Resurrection is the crowning truth of the faith. CCC 599 CCC 638
Mary, honored by both
Muslims honor Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus. Nostra Aetate 3 The Church honors her as full of grace and ever-virgin, and calls her Mother of God because of who her son is. CCC 490 CCC 495 CCC 499
