The answer, in writing

Church teaching

From the time of the apostles, becoming a Christian has been a journey in several stages. CCC 1229

The journey can go fast or slow, but some essentials are always there: hearing the Word, accepting the Gospel and turning to God, professing the faith, Baptism, the gift of the Spirit, and the Eucharist. CCC 1229
