Hanoi, 1839

For more than a century, Catholics in Vietnam were persecuted, and many thousands were killed.1

Andrew Dung-Lac was a Vietnamese priest arrested several times; his people paid ransoms to free him.1

He was finally beheaded in Hanoi in 1839.

Patronage No official patronage we can cite yet. The Church remembers them as the martyrs of Vietnam.

He is one of 117 martyrs of Vietnam, Vietnamese and foreign, priests and lay people, who died between 1820 and 1862.1

All 117 were canonized together.1
