The shore of the Sea of Galilee
Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist when John pointed at Jesus and called Him the Lamb of God.1
Andrew followed Him and spent the day with Him.2
The first thing he did afterward was find his brother Simon and bring him to Jesus.
Patron of fishermen2; Scotland, Greece and Russia2
01St. Andrew
The one who brings people
At the feeding of the five thousand, it was Andrew who noticed the boy with five loaves and two fish.3
When some Greeks wanted to see Jesus, Philip went to Andrew, and the two of them brought the request.4
02St. Andrew
Patras
Tradition says he preached in Greece and was crucified at Patras, and later legend says on an X-shaped cross.2
Live it this week
Bring one person to Jesus
Andrew’s gift was introductions: his brother, a boy with a lunch, a group of strangers. This week, invite one person you know to one specific thing, by name and with a time: Sunday Mass at 10, a parish dinner, adoration on Thursday.
