Santiago de Cuba, 1850s

Anthony was a weaver in Barcelona before becoming a priest.1

He preached missions all over Catalonia and wrote and printed cheap Catholic books for ordinary people.1

He was made archbishop of Santiago, Cuba, where he fought slavery and corruption.
