Creation

Genesis 1–2

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:1

Before anything, there’s Someone. Not a force, not a big bang with no one behind it. God, who doesn’t need anything, makes everything anyway. CCC 295

He looks at all of it and calls it “very good.” That includes you, by the way. Genesis 1:31

And He makes us in His own image, so we can know Him and love Him back. That’s the whole reason you’re here. Genesis 1:27 CCC 356

Genesis 3

“The LORD God called to the man, and said to him, ‘Where are you?’”

Then we grab. The first humans decide they’d rather be gods on their own terms than trust the God who made them. CCC 397

Everything cracks: our friendship with God, with each other, with creation, even inside ourselves. You’ve felt that crack. Everyone has. CCC 400

But look what God does next. He comes looking. And right there, He promises that evil won’t get the last word. Genesis 3:15 CCC 410

Genesis 12 to Exodus 24

“I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.”

Genesis 12:2

God’s rescue plan starts with one old man and a promise. Abraham, look at the stars. Your family will outnumber them, and through it, every family on earth gets blessed. Genesis 15:5 Genesis 12:3

A covenant isn’t a contract. It’s family. God binds Himself to a people: I will be your God, you will be My people. CCC 62

He frees them from slavery in Egypt and gives them the Law at Sinai, ten words for how free people live. Exodus 20:2 CCC 2060

1 Samuel to 1 Kings

“Your house and your kingdom will be made sure forever before you. Your throne will be established forever.”

Israel wants a king. God gives them David: a shepherd kid, a giant-killer, a poet, and, honestly, a mess. 1 Samuel 16:13 [Douay 1 Kings 16:13]

God makes him a staggering promise: a son of David will sit on a throne that lasts forever. File that away. It matters later. 2 Samuel 7:16 [Douay 2 Kings 7:16] CCC 709

Solomon builds the Temple in Jerusalem, the place where heaven and earth meet. For a moment, it looks like the promise has arrived. 1 Kings 8:10 [Douay 3 Kings 8:10]

2 Kings to Malachi

“I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you.”

It hasn’t arrived. The kings drift. The kingdom splits in two. The people chase other gods, and the prophets beg them to come home. CCC 710

In 587 BC, Babylon burns the Temple and marches the people away. Far from home, they hang up their harps and weep. 2 Kings 25:9 [Douay 4 Kings 25:9] Psalm 137:1 [Douay 136:1]

The Gospels

“The Word became flesh and lived among us.”

And then God doesn’t send another prophet. He comes Himself. Jesus of Nazareth, Son of David, Son of God. John 1:14 CCC 461

He heals, forgives, eats with sinners, and announces the Kingdom. Then He lets us nail Him to a cross, and turns the worst thing we ever did into the way home. Mark 1:15 CCC 613

On the third day, the tomb is empty. Death is beaten. Every promise in Acts I to V lands on Him. Luke 24:6 2 Corinthians 1:20 CCC 638

Acts to Revelation

“They were all filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 2:4

Fifty days later, the Spirit falls on the apostles like fire. Scared fishermen become the boldest people in Jerusalem. Acts 2:4 CCC 731

Jesus sends them to every nation, and promises He’ll be with them always. The Church is that family, still going. Matthew 28:19 Matthew 28:20 CCC 767

The story isn’t over. It ends with a new heaven and a new earth, and every tear wiped away. And there’s a seat at the table with your name on it. Revelation 21:4 [Douay Apocalypse 21:4] CCC 1042
