Romans 12
World English Bible, Catholic edition, in plain modern English. About the translations
Douay-Rheims Bible, Challoner revision, the traditional Catholic English Bible. About the translations
1 Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. CCC
2 Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. CCC
3 For I say through the grace that was given me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith. Fathers
4 For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, CCC
5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another, CCC · Fathers
6 having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us: if prophecy, let’s prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; CCC
7 or service, let’s give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; CCC
8 or he who exhorts, to his exhorting; he who gives, let him do it with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. CCC
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. CCC
10 In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor prefer one another, CCC
11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord, CCC
12 rejoicing in hope, enduring in troubles, continuing steadfastly in prayer, CCC
13 contributing to the needs of the saints, and given to hospitality. CCC
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse. CCC
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits.
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. Fathers
18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
19 Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.”
20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.”
21 Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service. CCC
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God. CCC
3 For I say, by the grace that is given me, to all that are among you, not to be more wise than it behoveth to be wise, but to be wise unto sobriety and according as God hath divided to every one the measure of faith. Fathers
4 For as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office: CCC
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ; and every one members one of another: CCC · Fathers
6 And having different gifts, according to the grace that is given us, either prophecy, to be used according to the rule of faith; CCC
7 Or ministry, in ministering; or he that teacheth, in doctrine; CCC
8 He that exhorteth, in exhorting; he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with carefulness; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. CCC
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Hating that which is evil, cleaving to that which is good, CCC
10 Loving one another with the charity of brotherhood: with honour preventing one another. CCC
11 In carefulness not slothful. In spirit fervent. Serving the Lord. CCC
12 Rejoicing in hope. Patient in tribulation. Instant in prayer. CCC
13 Communicating to the necessities of the saints. Pursuing hospitality. CCC
14 Bless them that persecute you: bless, and curse not. CCC
15 Rejoice with them that rejoice: weep with them that weep.
16 Being of one mind one towards another. Not minding high things, but consenting to the humble. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 To no man rendering evil for evil. Providing good things, not only in the sight of God but also in the sight of all men. Fathers
18 If it be possible, as much as is in you, have peace with all men.
19 Revenge not yourselves, my dearly beloved; but give place unto wrath, for it is written: Revenge is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 But if thy enemy be hungry, give him to eat; if he thirst, give him to drink. For, doing this, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head.
21 Be not overcome by evil: but overcome evil by good.
