The answer, in writing

Church teaching

The Immaculate Conception means Mary was redeemed from the moment of her own conception, kept free from every stain of original sin. CCC 491

This holiness comes wholly from Christ: she was redeemed in a more exalted way by reason of her Son’s merits. CCC 492

Our words

It’s about Mary’s conception, not Jesus’. And it’s all grace: Jesus saved His mother first, and in the most beautiful way.
