I was Catholic once: the whole path on one page, one cited paragraph per step.
You can stop anytime. This asks nothing of you.
You are welcome back
The Catechism says the center of the parable of the prodigal son is the merciful father. CCC 1439 There is no offense, however serious, that the Church cannot forgive. CCC 982
What may have changed since you left
The Church teaches that the liturgy has an immutable part, divinely instituted, and parts that can be changed. CCC 1205 The mystery celebrated in the liturgy is one, but the forms of its celebration are diverse. CCC 1200
Hard questions and hurts, honestly
The Church calls herself at once holy and always in need of purification, and says all her members, including her ministers, must acknowledge that they are sinners. CCC 827 Because it is ultimately Christ who acts, the unworthiness of a minister does not prevent Christ from acting. CCC 1584
How confession works now
Confession of sins to a priest is an essential element of this sacrament, and by the priest’s absolution God grants the penitent pardon and peace. CCC 1424 Every priest who hears confessions is bound to absolute secrecy, a seal that admits of no exceptions. CCC 1467
Back to Mass
You’re expected back, like the son the father ran to meet. CCC 1439 If you’re aware of serious sin, go to confession before receiving Communion; it’s a door, not a wall. CCC 1385
“Is my situation fixable?”
There is no sin the Church cannot forgive for someone who truly repents. CCC 982 Divorced and remarried Catholics still belong and should keep coming to Mass, and many situations have a path; a priest can walk you through yours. CCC 1651
A simple habit of prayer
Prayer is raising your mind and heart to God, and it grows by praying at set times. CCC 2559 CCC 2697 Start with the prayers you know, a Gospel passage, or silence, and keep going when it feels dry. CCC 2731
