Who is Jesus?
The Church teaches that Jesus Christ is true God and true man: the Son of God who, without ceasing to be God, became a man and our brother. CCC 464 CCC 469 He came to save us by reconciling us with God, and His Resurrection is the crowning truth of our faith in Him. CCC 457 CCC 638
Why a Church?
The Church teaches that Jesus Himself founded the Church, giving His community a structure with the Twelve and Peter as their head. CCC 763 CCC 765 It is the Body of Christ, professed in the Creed as one, holy, catholic and apostolic. CCC 787 CCC 811
The Sacraments
The Church teaches that the sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. CCC 1131 There are seven, and they touch all the stages and important moments of Christian life. CCC 1210
The Mass
The Church teaches that the Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” CCC 1324 At the Last Supper Jesus instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of His Body and Blood, to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages. CCC 1323
Prayer
The Church teaches that prayer is “the raising of one’s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God.” CCC 2559 It is the living relationship of the children of God with their Father, with His Son Jesus Christ and with the Holy Spirit. CCC 2565
The catechumenate (OCIA/RCIA)
From the time of the apostles, becoming a Christian has been a journey and initiation in several stages. CCC 1229 Today the Christian initiation of adults begins with entry into the catechumenate and reaches its culmination in a single celebration of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. CCC 1233

The Easter Vigil
At the Easter Vigil the Church blesses the baptismal water, and adults usually receive Baptism, Confirmation and first Communion in one celebration. CCC 1217 CCC 1233 The Eucharist completes Christian initiation. CCC 1322
