The answer, in writing

Church teaching

The Church teaches that there can never be a real conflict between faith and reason, because the same God gave us both, and truth can’t contradict truth. CCC 159

Research done in a truly scientific way and within the moral law will never really clash with faith, because the things of the world and the things of faith come from the same God. CCC 159

Our words

Science tells you how the world works. It can’t tell you why there’s a world at all. Catholics have always loved science; a priest proposed the Big Bang.
